Wheel Courses 

Our Wheel courses are taught by our wheel tutors Nadia and Brandon. They cover the start-to-finish process of making a set of pots. We offer 5 week and 8 week courses for complete beginners, as well as follow up classes or custom workshops for intermediate and experienced potters.

Group, 8 Week instensive
(Round1)

This is a 8 week intensive course that aims to provide beginners with an in depth introduction to creating pots on the potters wheel. We have combined elements from our 1st and 2nd timer 5 week course and have set aside more time for throwing practice.

Group course dates are allocated & announced via our website and social media. Check upcoming available dates in the booking section.

 

Lessons are 2hrs long and all materials, tools, glaze and firing costs are included in the price. Expect to make between 12-16 pieces of pottery.

Lesson Schedule

Week 1: Introduction to the wheel, throwing cylinders.

Week 2: Throwing shape, bowls.

Week 3: Throwing necks, vases and jugs.

Week 4: Practicing your favourite form & surface decoration.

Week 5: Trimming and handle making.

Week 6: Trimming and fettling.

Week 7: Glazing and decorating.

Week 8: Glazing and decorating.

Group, 8 Week instensive
(Round2)
*Not suitable for beginners

This is a 8 week intensive that is a great follow up to a 1st or 2nd timers course, or straight after the 8 week (round1).  

We will introduce you to advanced throwing techniques and methods such as repetition throwing, closed forms and lids, and throwing off the hump. There will be more opportunity to work with different clay bodies and learn about preparation too.

Lessons are 2hrs long and all materials, tools, glaze and firing costs are included in the price. Expect to make between 12-16 pieces of pottery.

Lesson Schedule

Week 1: Throwing/ practice, looking at different throwing styles and positions.

Week 2: Throwing & clay preparation/ wedging, throwing practice, repeat form.

Week 3: Throwing/ jars, lids, closed forms.

Week 4: Throwing/ off the hump. Spouts, cups, handles.

Week 5: Trimming/ new trimming techniques, attachments.

Week 6: Trimming/ finalising your work, fettling.

Week 7: Glaze/ Decorating your bisque-ware with underglaze, dip glaze, brush glaze and wax.

Week 8: Glaze/ Decorating your bisque-ware with underglaze, dip glaze, brush glaze and wax.

Group, 5-Week Pottery Course

This is a 5-week, introductory course to making pottery on the wheel. Group lessons consist of a maximum of 5 people (you may book onto this course with a friend, but there will also be attendees you do not know.).

Lessons are 2hrs long and all materials, tools, glaze and firing costs are included in the price. Expect to make between 6-8 pieces of pottery.

Private, 5-Week Pottery Course
(Up to 4 people)

This is a 5-week introductory course to making pottery on the wheel. This course is private tuition and is therefore priced higher. The more people attending, the lower the price.

With the private course, you may handpick a group of session dates that work best for you. 

Lessons are 2hrs long and all materials, tools, glaze and firing costs are included in the price. Expect to make between 6-8 pieces of pottery.

If you want to continue learning, you always have the option to return & take more classes at a date of your choice! Each time you return, we can increase the complexity of the class if you wish & teach you different techniques.
